40 +/- 2 inch lbs.
tks, IG
You already told me on my thread the barrel nut spec is 30-80 lbs
are there other torque specs we should know? Flash hider? what else?
TIA
Frens,
Give me an email address and I will send you a gift. Preferably Yahoo or something that will accept 10MB.
Old style washer for flash hider requires 15-20 ft. lbs. IIRC. There is no torque value when using the crush washer.
IG, email sent. Thank you.
Did you guys get your emails? They were sent last night.
just came back home and took a quick look at it.
awsome!
a lot of info in there!
thank you Sir,
stay safe.
May sound ignorant here, but what kind of torque wrench should I get for castle nuts? I have four stripped lowers, and I want to make sure I do it right.
i only have one for Foot Lbs, which i got for barrel nuts.
not this model, but this style.

apparently i’ll need another torque wrench for castle nuts i guess.
for castle nuts you’d might want something more like this?

or something cheaper, like this?

i don’t know. my other stocks like UBRs, SOCOMs and A2 dont need castle nuts. i have a M4 stock, but it came with a complete lower. this is my first install.
Is there a M4 stock tool other than the $50+ Brownell’s that accepts a torque wrench?
This will sound like AR heresy but I actually don’t torque mine. I work the trheads, apply anti-seize and then tighten. Once it is snug I give it another little jerk and then stake it. I have done well over 150 of them and have yet to have one come loose. YMMV.
That’s good to hear. Blue loctite?
NO LOCTITE! Anti-seize or molybdenum grease and then tighten.
Never got an email or PM from you. Try again.
$12 RRA stock wrench or $20 DPMS multi-wrench
It looks like the RRA is cut for the A2 buffer, not a torque wrench.
ah ok. good to know. i don’t own one, i just have the DMPS tool.
Hmmm…a thread on TOS has Ken Elmore saying that ALL torque values for the M16/M4 are in FOOT pounds. And an email from Bushmaster says 32-35 Ft/Lbs
