She’s hooked!! She started out a little rough(having never fired a rifle before) but after some dry firing and going over the basic fundamentals we began shooting. She started at the far left 200yd pig did pretty damn good then we went to 300yd and had a line break. I put our target out and she shot a one and a half inch 5 shot group. Four within an inch and one flyer. Again not bad for her first time out! She shot at pretty much everything ASR has out there and she did surprisingly well, nailed all 5 shots on the “small” pig at 600, 3 of them were touching. My stock was way too long for her. Gotta get her a shorter one. She will be joining the rifle club I shoot with and do the CAPRC clinics A-D and eventually competing. I’m proud of her she did great!
No I didn’t let her shoot until she had dry fired about 100 times and gotten used to the function of the firearm. I also watched her closely to make sure she kept her proper breathing cycle, Trigger control, wasn’t holding her breath and was loading the bipod correctly. At first she would focus on one fundamental but not the others so I didn’t let her shoot until she showed me 25 good dry fires practicing all the correct fundamentals. She did great. Most guys I know just throw their girl in there and just let her shoot. Nine times out of ten she gets scared half to death and is turned away from firearms. I love shooting precision rifle competitions and in about 6 months so will she
Nice man. Good teacher. I didnt just throw my girl in there, I just brought her along. She HATED it lol. She had anxiety bad. She awesome now, a good shot and safe about it too. Its awesome when you can bring your girl wit you
Way to go man! It’s all I can do to get my wafe to come to the rang with me and she likes to shoot. Got me??? Lol any way I’m looking at a new NF scope soon and was wonder what model your running?
That rifle probably weighs close to 15 lbs and with the muzzle brake and decent recoil pad, it probably feels like a .223 or less.
Dealing with recoil is largely mindset. She had the will and the proper preparation, so she made the hits. If the will is lacking, an 14.5" AR will “kick a lot” even for a 180# adult male.
I feel sorry for the 120#, 17 year old, city slicker recruits during WWI who had to learn how to shoot using M1903 with metal buttplates.
Congadulations! There are very few things that are better than a woman that likes to shoot. I got my wife hooked a few years ago. Started her out with a remmy 7mag, she loved it, more than I did. Now she gets range fever more than I do. Another bonus is that it’s pretty easy to get permission to get a new gun. happy shooting
