Took the g23 to the range today

I didn’t get as many rounds as I would liked to have. I picked up 150 rounds of federal fmj 180gr. I had one ftf and quite a few rounds hit me in the face. Wasn’t nearly as bad as I was thought was going to happen. I can tell you I want a flat trigger with a lighter pull, it was quite annoying. Made me glad I ordered a vickers mag release and definatly made me want the slide stop. I don’t know if it is because the glock sights are garbage or they need adjustment but it was hitting left of where I was aiming. Other than that it was nice to shoot and looking forward to putting more rounds through it. Though I still prefer my 1911.

Pulling rounds to the left is common with Glocks. It’s you, not the gun. Focus on pulling the trigger straight to the rear. 1911s have spoiled you a little bit with nice triggers. Treat shooting a glock like you do a revolver.

I am betting whoever owned it before me had them adjusted as the rear sight is all the way to the right.

How far left are you hitting and at what distance?

Picture a line down the middle of the target. I would be hitting left of that line except the few odd ball shots when I would aim further right. Distance was about 10m or so.

i’d center that thing up and and work on smooth consistent trigger pull. previous owner must have been putting too much side pressure on the trigger and hitting WAY left.

I am going to have to take it to a gunsmith or look up how to do it myself, never messed with sights except the ones on my 1911 and those are adjustable.

I am sure it is me for the most part besides the sights being off. I shoot straight with my 1911 though. My xdm was extremely accurate but I sold it to put money in my ar. It is not well liked on here but I loved it and had no problems with it though it had only around 500 rounds through it which doesn’t say much. My next polymer pistol will be a m&p. Anyway back to the topic, the full size glocks have the flat trigger right?

If the rear sight is pushed all the way to the right, that would make your point of impact move right, not left. The previous owner probably had the same problem and tried to move the impact to the right as well. I’m betting it’s you as well, especially coming from a 1911. I see this with the students I teach all the time.

Try dry firing with an empty gun and focus on keeping the sights perfectly aligned through the trigger press. Do this a couple hundred times before your next range trip and see if that helps. I’d also re-center the sights as its likely not the problem.

I must of had a brain fart or something on the sights… Anyway thanks for the advice. Just trying to figure out what’s wrong as I have never had this problem before. Even when me and my brother would go put a couple hundred through his g22. Do some dry fire drills and fix the sights and see if it changes.

I hate those ridges on the trigger by the way. Anyone have experience with the rubber stick ons for the grip? Not the slip on hogue ones though.

Do a lot of deliberate dry fire, as well as ball and dummy drills.

Have someone else shoot the gun to verify POI. Preferably someone of greater ability and experience on the system.

Unless you’re one of the top % of shooters that can actually wring the real accuracy out of the gun, you don’t need any adjustment of the sights beyond mechanical center.
