People are also very attune to colors and a bag can have molle webbing all over it as long as it’s not in tan, camo, or mil green. Those are the scary “military” colors people notice. I’d bet molle webbing is less an issue than colors.
Agreed. That is why I go with a Dark Coyote. I think that and Black are the two most “friendly” non military colors out there. Those in the know understand that Coyote i s a very common military color but the average person on the streets thinks it is just some brown backpack. I don’t do black because it stands out once you get into nature…a lot.
Take a look at Camera bags by Lowepro, Mountainsmith, Manfrotto, Timbuck2. Find one with the camera and lens accessories that are removable. lots of compartments and storage in those.

Saw one in the Norfolk VA Airport last week. It sure wasn’t fooling me even if the guy was in civvies.
It looked a lot more military Than I expected… I looked at picking one up but it looked more LBT3 day packey than the web pictures indicated. Not low profile enough for me.
Thanks for the feedback…agreed, looks a bit bigger. Just love the side access slots, wish they’d offer that feature on some smaller bags.

I’m using it as a go bag and carry-on for travel around the Middle East and Southwest Asia. I picked this brand because I wanted something that doesn’t say “American” like a North Face or Columbia pack when I’m traveling through airports in the Middle East. I don’t carry my laptop in it on a daily basis, so that leaves room for a 1.5 liter water bottle, MRE, first aid kit, travel towel, extra socks and T-shirt, gloves, eye pro case, and a few other things in the main compartment, with multi-tool, strap cutter, spare glasses, passport, granola bars, etc. in the outer organizer pockets. I could definitely fit more in there if I needed to. It also has two side pouches - I use one for a Motorola radio and could put a second, smaller water bottle in the other.
It’s pretty comfortable - the back (front?) of the pack has the raised padding / inverted Y-channel venting against your back to help keep you cool, and it seems sturdy enough to survive for a while. It may not last for a decade, but it should be good enough to keep in the car and throw on my back if I need to hump my way home.
