Timing a blackout

I’m replacing the bird cage on my 16" middy with an AAC Blackout (non-mount version). Am I correct in assuming that the timing of the blackout is not critical, just torque it down and where it ends up is fine?

Thanks…

Correct…

Excellent - thanks!

i try to time mine as to where one of the flats, or prongs, are on the bottom. this gives somewhat of a dust shield. it wouldn’t make much difference here in the woods, but it probably would out west, where it is dusty.

i’ve found that it didn’t make any noticeable difference for me. when one prong is on the bottom, you then have two slots on the bottom (beside it) to kick up dust, which seemed to kick up as much as one slot directly on the bottom. i tried this out in the desert while shooting prone.

Also, for a non-mount flash hider you do not have to use rocksett. You can just use a crush washer to make removal at a later date a simple affair.
