Tight fit with bcm upper with spikes lower

Having trouble lining up pins to attach upper to lower . Finally got pins in but need dowel to get front pin in. Yes I have the upper pushed back tight to buffer spring but the front pin is still very tight and can’t be pulled out without a dowel assist. Is this common for this combo.

I have an AR with that combo and have had no trouble whatsoever.

Should wear in I would think, my 6920 when it was new it was almost impossible to get the front pin out by hand, now that it’s worn in it’s no problem.

I have a BCM upper on a Spikes lower and it’s like they were made for each other.

Not a big deal. my BCM lower is like that with my KMR EWL. Still have to push with a punch or cartridge to get it moving. It is loosening with time. LOL on the bright side, no wobble whatsoever!! Wait, I never cared about wobble.

Thats all fine and dandy, as long as the wear is going to the upper lug. Most likely, it is not, and the wear going to your lower. This equals bad news bears. In other words, oblong take down/pivot pin holes is not desirable. It could be the diameter of the pin is out of spec, but wear is occurring somewhere if they are they difficult to install/remove.

My spikes lower front pin was super tight when it was new. I had a punch that i had to use. It eventually loosened up a bit. Ive replaced the upper with a BCM and still a little snug but no big deal.

No worries. They typically wear in with shooting/use. My PSA/BCM gun was really tight but has loosened up significantly with only 1000 or so rounds through it. I used a magpul dummy round to punch it until it was doable by hand.

A buddy of mine recently got two bad Spikes lowers. The holes were machined wrong and be couldn’t get a fire control group installed. After some research it appears that Spikes uses two manufacturers for their lowers. Aero Precision and another that I can’t remember right now. This other company had a bad batch of lowers go out. Check to see which lower you have. If it’s the other lower I’d check to see if it’s machined wrong.

Tolerance stacking. Had the same issue with a few lower/upper combos. They do loosen with time.

I have had one that was way too tight for way to long, change out the takedown and pivot pins with a set of BAD-EPS and now it is perfect.

Close inspection under a bright light reveals light finish wear inside of the pin hole of the upper receiver lug, and wear around the edge of the hole on the side where the pin pushes in, and light finish wear on the pin itself where it contacts the upper lug. I did not detect any front/back or up/down play when the pin was pushed into the lower without the upper on, I believe this is all normal.

Should wear in over time. Work on it a little bit.

Lubed the pins with froglube. Put extra in the channel on the front pin. Works like it should and have a solid lockup.anxious to get this build zeroed. Got an aimpoint pro patrol for. 300 and a did omega 7 rail for 180 . Total investment for a bcm upper , spikes lower for 1200 total with optics and free float rail.

Your lucky my new 6920 is sloppy out of the box .
