Throwing a couple of AR15s in the mud video

Here is a video of some impromptu testing of AR15s in the mud. I think this is a good video showing how one AR can work really well, and the other have more problems.

I’m not the best video editor yet, just been using some free stuff on my slow laptop, but I feel the content is worth watching, and I would like to share.

I was fairly impressed with the performance of my rifle, (the one that did better) For me, it seem almost all of the problems were related to small rocks or whatnot finding their way into the chamber, either seizing the shell in, or making it so it wouldn’t chamber. No issues I could think of with the gas system or anything else.

My buddies AR has similar problems, and also I think the no-name bolt carrier was giving some short stroking issues, I haven’t looked at the key on his, but it could be loose or something. Also its possible the carbine length gas system with only a carbine buffer probably didn’t help either.

Let me know what you think! If you have anything you would like seen done let me know… although throwing them in the mud I probably won’t do again as cleaning all the guns (I have some pistols we tested in the mud as well on my channel) was a pain in the rear. I Have a AK vs AR video I’m currently working on, and hopefully will post this week sometime. Then soon as the dirt roads dry up, I’ll try some dust tests as well.

The guy in ACUs needs to work on weapon manipulation, it seemed like he’s never used an AR before even though he’s wearing ACUs.

I liked when the mud was shoveled onto the AR, can’t say I’ve seen anyone do that before.

What is the purpose of the test? Water and sand has been done a thousand times?

Nice touch with the shovel.

Thanks

That would be correct, this is his first AR I have been helping him build, and his only experience with the AR was shooting mine a few times before. And neither of us have served, we just like to wear camo at our property when were playing in the mud and getting dirty.

Mostly because it was fun. And we wanted to see first hand what some AR15s can do.

The AR [M16] has seem more action than probably any other rifle fielded by in the US military forces, it is well proven and its weak points are well known. They have seen mud and sand before there was a youtube.

Tell your friend to “Never go full retard” with the vfg. Also it’s a magazine, not clip.
Looked like a fun little shoot.

I think this won’t end well.

As my old platoon sgt. used to say, Wow, just wow.

Sometimes a guy just wants to see what his equipment can take.

Not something I would do though…especially if it were my only gun.

Info on guns and parts used? Also curious if they were lubed given that your friend has never shot an AR before. No sound where I am so sorry if you mention in the video.

Pretty much, and it was fun. I have a few other AR15s, and other than a few light scrapes on the outside everything else is fine. Although fully dissembling the AR to clean it isn’t my idea of a good time.

Friends gun (painted lower) Has a AR-stoner socom profile chrome lined barrel (midwayusa house brand), carbine gas system. Carbine buffer, some mystery gun show BCG. LPK I think was DPMS. Magazines were lancer.

Mine is a Rock river chrome lined 5.56 16" barrel, wmd guns NIB BCG, CMMG lower parts kit, H3 buffer, RRA flip up front sight.

Far as lube, Mine as lightly lubed, his was too I believe.

I had to check the address bar to make sure that I wasn’t on ARFCOM.

More power to ya but I would never treat any of my rifles like that.

I like to treat them good so they treat me good. If I go throwing her around in some mud like a dirty pig then she may end up treating me bad when I need her most.

I find videos of guys crushing the Triple Threat Drill to be way more entertaining, but to each his own.

Did anyone last the full 17 min?

Watched till about 1:25 then got distracted and started petting my cat.

Best response so far. Sorry OP but you might want to read some threads on here.

What kind of cat is it? I have a large Maine Coon. Weighs about 19 lbs. or so.

My Savanah/Bengal mix cat (named Saiga after the rifle) got bored with it too. He weighs about 16 lbs. and plays fetch like a boss, I kid you not.

Here he is pissed I’m not playing fetch with him.
