Those with painted polymer frames

I’m interested in a grip deduction for my Glock and since it will need to be repainted, I want to paint it FDE.

Does anyone have a painted frame for at least a few years?
I’d like to see the overall wear from holsters and etc.

there have been alot of people dyeing them lately… you make check out that route?

If it is done correctly it should not need to ever be painted. I never paint frames for a grip reductions. I invented the fully stippled polymer grip reduction back when no one could do it. And even then no paint. I do the OD frames all the time with no paint.

nevermind, I misread…

I think he means he has a black frame and wants it FDE from this point on.

This.

Best option is to look at the painted rifle thread and look at the grips since most of those are polymer. Rattle canning it will be cheap and easy but wear off, but you could reliant it every so often. If you want something more robust cerakote or duracoat would be your best options.

MilitaryMoron has a pic of a Gen 2 Glock he’s had painted for a while. Check it out on this page, second from the bottom.

it does show holster wear, though. i don’t care, but if you do, alumahyde will chip/wear.

Agreed. It looks good when it’s new though.

After a few years, lots of kydex and leather holster presentations and lots of rounds.

I used one coat of Rustoleum. I don’t care at all.

Will post pics tomorrow. I applied alumahyde to my M&P, and it’s still pretty good for the most part, but like MM said, there’s holster wear.
