This is a fun piece.
I’m holding the magazine because it’s a bad mag - it has to be pushed upward to make it feed properly.

American steel!! ![]()
Was that how their mag releases were always set up to work or was that something added at some point in the design?
What’s the other rifle. I want to say SCAR but it just can’t be…
Every TSMG I’ve ever handled has been like that.
It’s an XCR. I think, no, I’m pretty sure, that stands for Xtreme Crap Rifle.
I’m not Quietshooter but yes, that’s the same mag release they’re always used.
The other rifle is a Robinson Arms XCR…I’d be interested in hearing Quietshooter’s review of his.
I was a little slow on hitting “enter”…
So the XCR isn’t lighting your fire?
Did you score any drums for your '28?
We had two of them out for the last two weekends. I am WHOLLY underfuckingwhelmed. They are fairly accurate, when they run. Neither of the guns liked fresh LC M193 ball - the hammer springs were too weak to produce reliable ignition. They would ignite AE .223 with no problem, but the military primers were just too hard.
We replaced one of the springs with a new Colt hammer spring, which fixed the light primer strikes. However - they still didn’t like M193, but would mostly shoot the AE. The guns short stroked fairly frequently with M193, which seems counterintuitive, but a fairly smart fellow in the party theorized that the ball powder in the M193 was producing a lower port pressure than IMR-type used in the AE. Whatever…all I know is that my DI Colt/LMT ran like a sewing machine with whatever I put in it, and the “superior” piston guns were…um…not so much.
Man, thats nice! Something about a Thompson!!
I own several Colts and they are without a doubt some of my least favorite guns.
The stock is too long. The boreline is too high (so they rise). They are heavy and unwieldy.
The German MP40 is insanely better.
The ergonomics and handling characteristics of even an M1 carbine are immeasurably better.
I don’t care for the Thompson…
Way too big and way too heavy for an SMG ![]()
ETA: I want to get the .45 conversion kit for my Uzi though.
Sounds like a lot of sour grapes to me…
Rob, I am feeling really charitable. Seeing as how you don’t like your Colt Thompsons, I will take them off your hands and even pay the transfer tax…![]()
Nice Tommy QuietShootr, is it yours? I came SO close to finding a way to fund a Savage '28 arsenal refurb military Thompson that came through our shop a few months ago.
