This is really crazy...ACOGS

Who would have thought this would be an issue, for Christ’s sake.

Michael

This is new and exciting. :suicide2:

In God we trust…kinda…until it offends someone.

I’d rather they had inscripted Psalms 18:2 and 144:1

Why is this a surprise after naming Christians as extremists?

I think there is difference between a cultural statement about god and a specific biblical verse. I don’t think its a huge deal, but I don’t think that military equipment, paid for by the tax payers, should be engraved with religious text by the manufacturer. Its not relevant to the equipment or mission.

Is it really that offensive? I wouldn’t be surprised if in a few years there are verses from the koran next to a picture of obama’s ugly mug on our military parts. Then the libs won’t be offended.

Having Bible verses on our weapons wouldn’t be a massive propaganda implement for our enemies in Iraq and Afghanistan or anything. Nope nope nope. Keep that outrage dialed to 11.

BTW, we were still fighting in Iraq when this was actually news. You guys are getting worked up over something that is years old. Apparently someone just caught word of the issue in AK and is bringing it up again.

This is an old story. Like several years ago.

ABC News report

On 18 January 2010, ABC News reported Trijicon was placing references to verses in the Bible in the serial numbers of sights sold to the U.S. Military.[1] The ABC News story was initiated by Mikey Weinstein and the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, after being alerted to the practice by multiple sources including active-duty servicemembers.[2]

Tom Munson, director of sales and marketing for Trijicon, said the practice of including the references was started nearly 30 years previously by the company’s founder, devout Christian Glyn Bindon, who died in a 2003 plane crash.[3]

Yeah, that is what I thought also when I started reading this thread.

My ACOG made in February this year no longer has the verse etched in by the serial number.

Its in white under the Tritium warning.

I never knew Trijicon did that. I just checked my TR24G and it’s marked John 12:46.

Pretty cool in my opinion…

I thought I was having Deja Vu for a second…

*Cue a0cake to provide some reading material on the Deja Vu phenomenon.

It’s a glitch in the Matrix – everyone knows that.

Mine is ground off.

Welcome to 2010. Oh wait, that was 3 years ago.
