I just bought my first AR and already want another one. I was thinking about ordering an LMT CQB MRP Defender Model Piston 16 directly from LMT. I know it is possible that they may be banned before my build is finished. Any other suggestions where I might get one quicker. Also, I really jumped into my first rifle “colt 6920” and want to make sure that I get a very nice rifle this time. I now understand that the LMT is more desirable. Are there any others brands out there I should be looking at? I know Noveskie is not even taking orders, but would it be wise to wait until they are. What are your suggestions?
I’m in the same boat as you with wanting the LMT MRP. I am ready to purchase today if I could find a place that will accept an order and not charge my card until shipping(Already got burned with Sure Sights, but that’s another story).
I wouldn’t mind the 6920 either, but here in Dallas it is $1,800 and up…no thanks…for that price I will get the LMT MRP Piston for a tad more. I’m also open to getting the full upper and lower separately if it is an option.
I just want to “get in line” with my order and wait impatiently like every other normal, proud american…
What I did when I started to look at LMTs was call them direct. Ask for Ryan and tell him where you live. He will give you the best dealer to work with locally.
No! I guess I should check my post before submitting (still asleep I guess, it was early). I love the Colt! But I did have a guy at a gun shop tell me that almost all AR’s will out shoot a Colt (group size). He mentioned “Bushmaster and Rock river” by name as more accurate rifles. I don’t know if he knows what he is talking about? I am very new to all this AR stuff? I had just heard that the “LMT” was a better gun. Was I told wrong?
you were told wrong- Colt and LMT are both 1 - 2 MOA barrels. every barrel shoots different, but you’re not really going to get any better in a chrome-lined service barrel. if you’re looking for accuracy over longevity and weight, you’d need to move to a stainless barrel from a good barrel maker.
gun store owners and employees are notoriously ignorant about guns- they skim through gun magazines from time to time and draw conclusions from weird places, and i’ve never really talked to anyone in a gun shop that seemed to know their crap.
Thank you BB01 and bkb0000! You both made me feel better about my colt. Can you put a nice trigger in the 6920? It seems like I read some where larger pins made that difficult, not sure though. And if so, what is the name of some nice triggers that will fit it and still be reliable?
since you’re new to ARs i strongly recommend sticking with the factory trigger- it’s important to learning trigger control. once you’re shooting 40/40 with a standard, consider upgrading. otherwise you won’t learn how to ease, and you certainly wont notice any great improvement between the two- because you suck at both.
