Well I was going to spend my hard earned money on a glock 17 but since I already have a cz 75 and a pocket .38 I figured I should buy an AK instead. $500 is really about my price range right now so I’m looking at a Hungarian AMD 65. I would rather have an Arsenal or a Lancaster but I figure I had better get something while I still have the chance as money is an issue and I dont know if I can get more than this $500 in teh next couple months. So what is the word on the AMD 65? I have not been able to find much on them from just doing a google search. Obviously they dont seem to be on the same par as an Arsenal or Lancaster but are they worth it? The only real bit of info I’ve really got is that they are very, very loud. This is the model I’m looking at.
Should be better than a WASR, some will say not better than the Arsenal. That being said I own a WASR and it has gone bang each every time. The Nodak receiver is one of the best you can get. Overall I think it is a good gun. The AMD-65 is kind of the bastard child being the fact that few parts are interchangeable with other AK variants. Also the 30 round mags can be cumbersome to change due to the forward grip. I personlly like them and actually plan on building the original SBR version for my last AK build. And you are right they are loud as hell.
