Thread title says it all.
It is not politically feasible for progressives to get it done, especially not in any format that actually affects the ability of consumers to get what they want. In 1994, both chambers were controlled by Democrats. Robert Byrd was the Senate majority leader and Tom Foley was the Speaker of the House. Not that John Boehner is a great protector of liberty or anything, but he is certainly not Tom Foley. Foley was only able to get about two more total votes than the Democrats held for their majority. I certainly don’t see Republicans voting in any significant numbers with Democrats on a new AWB, especially with the rancor that has existed since passage of Obamacare.
Bottomline, it ain’t happening. The price of everything might go up because of the politics and the fear of availability, but there will be no new AWB.
