I was never a big fan of Peanuts growing up, then when Schultz died a lot of the papers began running “Classic” Peanuts from earlier in the strip’s run. A lot of these older strips are delightfully bleak or even dark in their tone and I developed a newfound appreciation for the strip as a result.
