The venerable 336

excellent work.

Mr. Smith, it’s always a pleasure to see your work! I spent 20 years in the “high end” furniture restoration business. An injury (not work related) forced me out. I know what it’s like to get into a job that takes longer than planned, and how you have to just smile & gut it out sometimes. The customers smile at the end certainly helps to forget the struggle !! Please keep allowing us to see some of your work.

Nicely done. Is that a proprietary rear sight?

I appreciate the compliments.
Thanks for understanding my pain.

As always and excellent gun Mr. Smith.

Here’s my work in progress:

1976 Marlin 336C picked up at a pawn shop for $200. Apparently belonged to a farmer who gave it to his son. Lot’s of honest wear and signs of good maintenance combined with a very heavily pitted barrel and magazine tube around the muzzle. Shot good but shot four inches high at 50yds. Installed a set of XS ghost ring sights and had a gunsmith cut the barrel and magazine tube to 16.5" and reinstall front sight. Refit the front barrel band and fit the Ram Line stock myself due to the original checkered forearm being worn completely smooth and less then half the original thickness and badly split. The plastic stock will be replaced with a laminated stock as soon as I find an affordable one and the rifle will be ceracoated. May put a scout rail on it and a mini red dot sight.
