The Slippery Slope - New York SAFE vs Brady II

I have seen this mentioned a couple of times in other threads and I think it deserves it’s own thread.

Here is a link to the original Brady II bill that was filed after the previous 1994 Brady I AWB that all the anti-gun people are pushing for reinstatement.

The ink was barely dry on Brady I before they were trying to push this bill through.

If you compare it to the recently passed New York legislation you will see a significant amount of similarities (this is what they had in the “drawer” waiting for the blood needed to baptize it). I believe it is just a matter of time before they will start pushing for those things left out of the New York law that were in Brady II as well as starting a push against “sniper rifles”.

This is something that people need to get in front of waffling Fudds who don’t think they will “go any further” and the only want “reasonable, common sense legislation”.

I think NY may have done us a favor by being so quick. Especially the 7 round mag limit. It’s hard to ignore the fact that “reasonable” really means “as much as we think we can get this time” to the civilian disarmament side.

Absolutely correct. Combine that with the historical record of them doing Brady II as detailed above, and it should be obvious what they intend and ISN’T “Reasonable Restrictions” like I see posted in comments all the time on news sites by gun ban supporters. People who say they do support RKBA and own guns but believe in the 10 round mag ban. I think if the really truly understood where it is going, there would be more people on our side of the fence. Even if they don’t believe you “need” a 30rd mag.
