The search button works!

I’d like to say thanks to all of the members here who have contributed to the wealth of knowledge on this site. I’m still relatively new to AR’s, but I feel like I already have a well above average knowledge of them thanks to the info here.

I got my first one almost two years ago on the advice of a co-worker who has in excess of 300 firearms. I thought surely if I know anyone to get advice from, he’d be the one. First and foremost, he suggested I skip the AR altogether and go with an AK based on the reliability. Somehow I just didn’t want an AK. He suggested an Olympic because that’s what he had and seemed as good as any.

Of course I complied and got a slightly used one. Shortly after I began to realize what I had been talked into. Within two trips to the range the carrier key (not staked at all) came very loose and seized up the rifle.

Upon doing a bit of research on this site and a few others, I opted to completely replace the upper with a Spikes. What a difference it made. No more failure to extract, failure to feed and no more loose carrier key. Accuracy was quite improved as well. I just got my second rifle with a spikes lower and colt 14.5 HBAR upper. I love it and this is becoming addictive.

To all the newbs such as myself, use the damned search button. It works!
