We should reject this Obama-Yugen program outright. I can’t believe there is even a debate over it here. If anyone wants to get involved in community service – or wants to get their kids involved in community service – then great! Go for it!! There are enough opportunities for that to keep you busy for a hundred lifetimes.
Now if you want to get the “collective” together to prescribe what mandatory community service my family is going to be forced to participate in, well then you just bought yourself a fight. This isn’t going to be the Boy Scouts of America. It’s going to be the re-education camp of America. Don’t fall for it. And don’t let them get their hands on your kids.

Due to the “separation of church and state” – that famous part of the constitution, not found in the constitution – they will of course not permit your kids’ church related volunteer work to count towards their mandatory service. So they will have to put in another two hours a week doing “acceptable” state approved service work. Which of course will make it all the harder for them to be involved in family or church activities at all… Oh gee… now I’m getting the picture.
Barack Obama will require you to work. He is going to demand that you shed your cynicism. That you put down your divisions. That you come out of your isolation, that you move out of your comfort zones. That you push yourselves to be better. And that you engage. Barack will never allow you to go back to your lives as usual, uninvolved, uninformed.

Can you imagine sending your child to a work center to mingle with the with ghetto-trash, with God knows who- probably no one- in charge. Can you imagine that environment. The person that came back to you would not be the one that left your home.
