Here are some pics I grabbed off another site of the 3rd. I.D. Tomb Guards at the Tomb of the Unknowns in Arlington during the blizzard that hit D.C. last week. Completely needless to say, they didn’t abandon their posts for one single second, no matter how crappy the weather got.
they have a special job they do it well.
The term “men of honor” comes to mind. It is to bad that so many people in our country don’t know what patriotism really is.
My hats off to those men.
Diddo. I remember when I was in 8th grade we took a class trip to Washington D.C. Arlington Natl. Cem. was one of the places we visited. Needless to say, the Honor Guard definately left a lasting impression on me.
I agree these guys define patriot. When I was a firefighter one of our crew was an Old Guard guy. He was one of the most ‘squared away’ guys I’ve ever known.
I couldn’t have said it any better. Looking at those pictures fills me with pride and tears come to my eyes.

Men of Honor indeed!!! Blizzard or hurricane, The Old Guard’s devotion to duty is legendary. 
BTW, it doesn’t snow in the Army, it snows ON the Army.

What are the dudes (not the Old Guard guys) with the leaf blowers doing in the first picture? Is that how you VA folks fight snow? 
Yes, and God Bless the Old Guard and all our soldiers, sailors, marines, airmen, etc. We went to DC twice while I was in HS and visited the TotUS and I was very very impressed by their demeanor.
I didn’t realize such a thing existed. Very cool.
I guess that is their idea of a snow blower. 
I would expect nothing less from men of their caliber. I drove up from Quantico once to watch them. It was a pleasure to do so.
I had a good buddy in the old guard when I was stationed at Fort Belvior. Six hours of polishing and preparation everyday he was on detail, I respected him a lot. If you would, forward those pictures to fox news or Glenn Beck. There great shots and i am sure they would love to have them.
I have no doubt about this. When I was at Ft. Bragg, we used to spend hours getting our (fatigue) uniforms ready before we went on Military Police patrol (and we were in no way as sharp as The Old Guard).

The Old Guard (TOG) stands post no matter what the weather conditions. I was in the Old Guard MP CO from 2002-2005, and these guys are definitely squared away.
I am local and get to Arlington Cemetary, giving tours honesly, to visitors, family, friends, etc quite often. This never gets old.
They are something to behold and whether its 100 degrees in the summer, 33 degrees sleeting in the late fall, or something like this, is it worth going to.
A close friend was a PL in the Old Guard during the '80’s and it sounds like their defensive mission is no joke. Prob can’t say much more about that.
God bless these men. It takes a special kind of discipline to be able to do the job they do in the environments they have to deal with.
