This is a view review of the new RS Products Aimpoint T-1 Micro mount for the AK series of rifles. This is a review of the prototype, one of two in the wild for T&E right now. The production model should hit the streets any day now. I will say this, I’m a fan of this series of sight mounting systems from RS Products.
Nice run - I am a Ultimack fan based on they were the only making a “true” RDS mount for those with or without scope rails - I know this shows just as much promise for those with scope rails.
I would go this route over the MI Mini Dot Mount for one big reason - the MI Mini Dot Mount isn’t nearly as durable. A drop half as rough as the one I show in this video would likely damage the MI Mini Dot Mount. It’s not intended for hardcore use, it’s more of a square range device and not something you would “go to war” with.
I also like the fact that with this mount I can use the RDS as part of a system of sights. As I showed in this video, I can quickly switch from the RDS to a magnified optic in seconds without tools. It gives me more choices.
I’m sure your WASR is capable of hitting 99% of the things an Arsenal is.
But if you plan on upgrading - well - I’m not going to tell you no.
In a few years the original WASR’s with Rommy barrels are going to start commanding a premium. If nothing else people will buy them to pull the barrels out of.
I have the original one with a comp m2 in it, works for me, I like the co-witness, ease of removing dust cover, holds zero well, nice mount, I bought it from Brownells.
I think thats the only reason I’ve kept my WASR; it works, its got the Romanian barrel, and its actually put together correctly.
But it still feels like a cheap piece of junk and its a pre-ban version with the muzzle nut welded on and bayo lug ground off. I’d really like to get a nice, classic milled AK but I can’t stop buying AR stuff. :sarcastic:
Thanks for the review. Looking forward to trying one of these on my SLG-31 with a H-1. I apologize if it has already been mentioned, do you how much the mounts will weigh?
