The little guy is done

The 7.5" experiment is done, and its definitely a keeper.
This was my first go around with a 7.5" so I threw this together. I didnt expect much along the lines of reliability and comfort shooting.

Not thinking it would work well, I did it as cheap as possible and wanted to be able to get to the gas port incase I didnt guess the right size. It functioned barely enough to kick the brass out without the suppressor, so I musta got it right on the port size.

With the OPS 14th model it was not bad at all to shoot, and seemed to function fine for the initial 60 some rounds. It did get hot, and I realized I wanted something more for a heat shield, so I swapped on the PRi CAR tube.

A couple days later I was invited to go shooting with some friends and a long lost cousin who never shot a gun before. This was the first actualy full shooting with this upper, and the distance was 65yds with M855.

For someone who never shot before, she put more rounds through this than I think she did anything else we brought that day, and was hitting clay birds at 65yds consistantly.

Sunday was another day at the range with the uncleaned 7.5" and it was shared among 12 other shooters. There were a bunch of suppressed rifles and this one seemed to be the big surprise to everyone. I swapped the 15th model on and put the 14th back on my 11.5" and when shot next to a suppressed 16" carbine with a (very well respected) suppressor you could not tell them apart.

What also was a surprise that I dont understand; I dont have a gas buster, and there is absolutely NO blowback through the receiver into my face.

This is so light and short, its the most fun thing I have to shoot right now:)

Now that little momma looks fun.

It looks alot like the Canadian PDW (Personal Defense Weapon) 4" AR. We should ask KevinB how they worked out.

I think I know, but I’de love to hear:D

You should post the comparison pics of it with the LMT 10.5 like you did on the “other” forum.

Very sweet!

That poor little DD rail… :frowning:

VERY Interesting.

Maybe this might the foot in the door to put the ‘rumor’ to bed that 7.5 shouldn’t/cannot be surpressed?

Very cool steve…

The CF tried 4", 5", 5.5" and 6" barrels for the PDW (4" and 6" where from M2 Corp 5 and 5.5 where “homebuilt”) - 7.5" 8", 9" (and the 10" 10.5 and 11.5 barrels from various gen of the C8CQB) where tried as well at other times.

I had nothing to do with the project other than trying to kill it – NATO seemed set upon the 5.7x28 P90 POS - even when the 5.56mm versions kept the same manual of arms as the M4/C8 etc.
Shooting the suppressed 4" makes a MAC-10 look slow.

5" with vortex

Note the modified “PDW” buttstock and receiver extension

Edit – I’d be really interested in a commercialization of the PDW butt/rec ext/buffer and spring

Dunk the suppressor in water first and it perfectly comfortable to shoot without hearing protection.

Wow…that little fella is wee! Looks like a lot of fun, even more so with the suppressor.

I found this pic a year or two ago…is this one of the Canadian shorty’s or is this Hollywood?

That is Canadian Special Forces on a mission in dimension 12.

That’s kinda what I thought…I saw the Elcan…but then I saw the thumbhole stock.

Hollywood.

Thanks for the confirmation.

Now back to the original thread and Bigbore’s wee beasty!

yeah, stargate or something? I remember MacGuyver wearing an outfit like that in a commercial for it…

Sorry, never watched it, which is why it got me. :o

STARGATE SG1 hottie…

Funniest thing I have read all day. Thanks for the laugh.

I’m glad I could help Nitrox bring a smile to someone’s face…
