Add in a little “parallel construction” and you’ve nailed it!
Remember, it’s for our own good to catch criminals….forget any created “criminals” that didn’t exist before. Now, if you don’t like the law just get it changed. Happens all the time.
Oh, as an aside, that “lying to a Federal agent” bullshit charge needs to go the fvck away. I’m not 5yo, you’re not my parents, and you’re not God.
Especially considering cops are free to lie most of the time with exceptions for lying to superiors over even trivial matters or if it involves a big enough name(OJ) that the court proceedings are plastered all over the news.
I’ve been drilled since I was knee high, “Never Talk to Cops.” for years I didn’t understand why if you are not guilty, you still “Don’t Talk to Cops.” at about 18 the little light went on above my head.
They do not give a “F” if you are guilty or not, they can know you’re not Guilty and arrest you for suspison anyway. Walking with a friend well, when they nab you well, he’s going in with you.
At some point they have to make it look like they are doing something and well it looked like the same jacket and hat we have on tape. They know it’s not you but, F’ it they have to make an arrest.
Not quite as much of a “fuck you peasants” as the cop who wrote a woman born without a right hand a ticket claiming she was texting and driving with her right hand, but close.
The surveillance system told the cop the car was not insured so he wrote the young lady a ticket for no insurance despite her being insured with proof. As part of the institutional piling on, one of the cop’s colleagues from a neighboring town did a repeat the next day.
I’m not seeing the Police having a lot of problems finding People to arrest, what I am seeing is Judges letting Crimminals back out on the streets.
So perhaps we need Cameras Broadcasting the Performances of our District Attorneys and Judges instead, just to Show everyone what’s going on in our Courts systems.
Perhaps we will begin to understand that when we lock crimminals up with a mandatory minimums applied and they begin spending muliple decades behind Bars we wont need to mess with anyones rights because all of the crrimminals are In Jail
I remember in years past whenever a Person of Color was interacted with by Law Enforcement it was very easy for them to claim brutality, so then they demanded Body Cameras for Police.
Well, Cops all got Cameras right about the time YouTube took off so those interactions not only went to Court with the Suspect, but YouTube Might well have some film of you doing the Electric Boogaloo from being tased because you had too much Gin out in the Sun that Afternoon.
Your little Cousin, Your Auntie and Granny all are all on video Shoplifting at Piggly Wiggly, WalMart and the Walgreens and now all of those camera’s are Racisit.
Seriously, there are towns in Minnesota that have declaired Cop’s body cameras racisit so they wont buy them.
So we’ve already paid for the damned things and they will likely help in cases like the above. So leave them on, require a Warrant to access them and see how it works like that.
Or we could take them all to the Border and place them on the fence, but agaqin, that would be racisit
Have you got a link? I keep reading comments about criminals/leftists wanting to ban body cameras, but I have yet to see any group the claim is attributed to actually making the comment.
While the provided sources do not identify a particular Minnesota town resisting body camera requirements, the legal structure under Minn. Stat. sections 13.825 and 626.8473 explains why resistance or uneven adoption is possible. Small or rural towns frequently exercise their discretion to delay, limit, or decline adoption based on cost, privacy, or administrative complexity, without violating any statewide law. This framework means that in practice, some towns operate without body cameras, or implement them slowly compared to larger urban departments like Minneapolis or St. Paul.
Grady Judd and other le heads aren’t resisting body cams due to concerns the cams will collect evidence against private sector criminals.
It makes no sense for criminals to oppose body cameras because a cop’s version of events has typically carried far more weight in court than the word of peons.
/////
New in the news, cop used the surveillance cams to help a cousin locate the cousin’s domestic violence victim.
I think the opposition is due to the fact that some folks “Chimp Out” with little or no provocation during an arrest and revert to their natural behavior patterns.
Those types of behaviors are repugnant to everyone who is civilized and I believe their Political Party was eventually being embarassed by their behavior and had to do something.
A cop’s written/verbal version of a chimp out will be at least as detailed as what actually happened so video footage of an incident will typically be beneficial/irrelevant for the defendant’s side of the story and detrimental/irrelevant for the cop.
It appears this crew was running around sans body cameras so it would be their weighted word versus the unwashed masses.
Not sure it would have made a difference in the ultimate outcome, but the people with the porch camera should have kept quiet about the video until after the cops issued their official statement.
I think the other version of that is “If they Have Body Cams and aren’t Wearing Them they are Up to Some Monkey Business.”
“A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words” I’ve been involved in hundreds of AAR’s over the years and no One Witness even when 100% honest could ever tell you more than 5% of the total story. so Cops being eye Witness’s is a bad idea on a lot of different levels.
So Yeah, I like Body Cams and No I dont Like Flock Camera’s, but now that we have them lets only use them with a warrant to keep idle hands out of Cookie Jars. Once they Die, they are gone, but we paid for them
Grady Judd inadvertently giving a stern lecture on why Flock and other surveillance systems need to be eliminated as well as why every cop/politician needs to be wearing a body cam that can’t be turned off.
Ben Franklin’s quote of “Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.” hits home in this situation.
Justifying a surveillance state situation and thinking that the data will not be indefinitely and egregiously abused by people in power is absurd. Sure, the lower and mid level worker bees will get caught and be made “examples of” for this “unacceptable abuse”, but the peeps in charge will never be. There would be laws made for them to hide behind and get away with it, just like we see everything else they get away with. No thanks.
Wow, the sworn employees of Albany Sheriffs office in New York have apparently piled up at least 52,025 incidents of using surveillance cameras to track romantic interests and/or other personal targets.
This comment everytime a member of the system’s bad behavior stops getting covered up
"“When you’re going to have a situation where you have to charge somebody with a crime that is a member of an agency with which you work, that can be difficult," said Hancock County Prosecutor Brent Eaton.”
burns my ass considering the balls to the wall zeal they will typically exhibit going after some peon who has done nothing like this lady.
To be honest the misuse of Flock-obtained information by POS cops isn’t my biggest concern, although it is an excellent example of why they need done away with. My largest unease is when the .gov turns sour (it’s only an election away as they say) and that data is used to incarcerate someone who today is not a “criminal”, but someday a pen waived across paper might arbitrarily change that.
