After 6 months of research and running parts down on top of moving out of California to Texas, she’s finally done. Although this is my first build, my Colt 6940 wouldn’t agree with that statement.

Sorry for the shit cell phone pictures but I was in a hurry. Anyhow, if weather permits, I’ll be taking her to the range in a few hours and put a few hundred rounds down range.
The pinning and weld was done by AJ @ Blackjack Custom & Repair. He’s got a small shop in North Austin but his work is high quality and his turn around time is the best in the area from what I’ve experienced. If you live in the area give him a call (512)450-3535.
I don’t think assembling an AR is that big of a deal. Moving from California to Texas though, that is great! Congratulations! I hope I don’t have to do the same. Move from Florida to Texas that is. I don’t think I would even visit California. Good looking rifle.
Thanks. My wife and I just saw it as our final PCS move with us funding the move. It was tough but we wanted our kids to be raised in Texas and near grandparents.
Thanks again.
Thanks!
She’s gonna be my go to rifle, far from being a safe queen. Now that I’m in Tejas, I’ll be participating in several carbine/tactical courses and this rifle fits the bill. I expect to put thousands of rounds through her in the next 6 months.
I don’t see how it would be a problem with this Geissele rail and barrel nut. Plus, the locking lever is on the upper receiver. Thanks though, I’ll check how it holds zero after a couple hundred rounds.
Ouch! Well everyone can’t be perfect…lol. I wouldn’t move back to California even if they offered me crazy money. I would have to live in AZ or Nevada and commute.
I did go back to Cali summer before last because it was a short term contract for crazy money and because my grandmother was getting on in years and I wanted to go spend time with her. I’m glad I did because she passed away that August. I don’t mind visiting Texas, I’ve got family and a couple good friends there.
You shoot that rifle yet? I know it’s begging to be. How’s the feel & balance? Does it feel light & lively?
Thanks! Believe it or not, it only weighs 7.8lbs. The rail I have to say is it’s best asset. After a few mag dumps, the rail remained cool.
Thanks! The rail is what kicked off this build for me.
That’s a damn shame. Maybe one day?
I have family in both states and I’m from CA but I prefer Texas.
I actually did get to shoot it. Let me first say I was in awe from the first trigger pull. It was so damn smooth that I had to verify my shot on the target. It has virtually no muzzle rise and is quick in target acquisition. I ran Tula to M855 and had zero failures. This stick is perfect.
Unfortunately, upon cleaning and inspection, I found a crack on the chrome lining of the carrier. I’m gonna try to contact LMT (do we have any reps here?) and see what they can do. Wish me luck!
You can tell the difference from running a heavier buffer. I’ve ran the H1, H2 and now H3. I prefer the A5H3 but I haven’t received my H4 buffer yet…
