Thanks to Pat Rogers & SWAT magazine

Pat_Rogers,

I was in the Borders book store today (buying Lone Survivor) and saw the new issue of Outdoor Life has a pro-AR, pro-black rifle article on the AR for hunting!
It was written by Michael Bane

I think you and SWAT magazine (and it’s pro-ARs readers) have helped the hunting world to wake up!

Thanks,
Robb

ARs are great for hunting, I took this 200lb 8pt buck in 2004 in West Augusta VA with a .50Beowulf with factory Alexander Arms 325gr HP.
It was through-and-through both lungs shot (also tore up his right shoulder) did about as much damage as my T/C Encore .50 muzzleloader does (just a big hole because it doesn’t expand much), I shot him from 45yds, he went about 8-10ft and expired immediately.

I suspect that there were a number of publishers who after Zumbo got torpedoed went to their writers and editors asking if any of them knew about the black rifles.

I am guessing that they either had about 2/3 of their staff say “Yeah, had one for years” shocking the pants off of the publishers, or heard “Those things make us all look like terrorists and scare the anti’s even more.”

Hopefully the former response got the call to write as much as possible about the AR, and the latter got the response, “well you better learn about them as we are planning on running at least one article about them per issue now!”

Michael Bane probably deserves a little nod too. He’s done more to preserve our gun rights over the last decade or so than most people can imagine. Among other things, he’s the spearhead behind the seminars that feature professional shooters mixing with mainstream media people in order to educate them out of their ignorance. I’m not sure if many have changed their minds politically, but many are writing from a more informed and fair perspective.

Thanks Robb. I appreciate the comment. I’d like to think that what we did changed some minds.
Of course the thimblebrains may see it differently, but i’m pretty satisfied in what we did.
