I want the good, the bad, and the ugly… or any combination of the three. Know someone selling an amd variant.
if its a FEG receiver then those were nice guns,
Tennessee Guns can be VERY hit and miss.
What are you looking at specifically? Links would help.
Don’t even see the and listed on their site. They make mention of it, bit that’s it. Was wondering about Chrome lining, etc. Didn’t notice any sight can’t or anything. May just be a bad investment… in which case, I’d pass.
I would pass unless I had more information. My reason for this is that I contacted them a while back because I was considering purchasing one of their VZ-58s that they were sell for around $575. When I asked them questions about some basic information (barrel, receiver information, factory vs parts gun, etc…) they became defensive and would not answer my questions. Bottom line is that I would be skeptical of any organization who is not willing to share basic information about their products with potential customers.
I ended up buying an arsenal SGL-21 based on recommendations on this forum and the $499 sale price sealed the deal for me.
Where did you get the arsenal at that price?
k-var had them at that price for a sale last year i believe
K-Var had a sale last November on these. Although prices have gone up, I have seen them recently on Aimsurplus for $660 using a coupon code.
Anyone know if these are Chrome lined? Are the recievers milled? Are the recievers opened up to accept double stack mags? Kid’s still trying to sell.
Need a specific model #. They’ve done a lot of AK’s over the years.
Amd-65
The AMD-65 is a stamped receiver. The barrel could be an original sub 16" barrel with an extra long muzzle brake permanently attached, or it could have a US non chromed 16" barrel on it.
Again, I’d personally wave off unless I could hold it in my hands and inspect it, knowing what to look for.
Also, those AMD wire side folding stocks are the most uncomfortable ever made.
It’s got the extended perm’d tapco brake.
Contacted tgi this a.m. Talked to one of their smiths and he said they are the original Chrome lined barrels with perm’d mb. The only downside I could figure was that they’re imported as single stack and opened up to accept double stack mags. Is this necessarily a bad thing?
Not if done correctly. Arsenal does it on the SLR and SGL series, and Century does it on the WASR series.
Are there other stock options or ya stuck with a wire folder?
Pretty much stuck. There was a guy offering a wire add on that gave you more of a cheek weld.
I personally can’t stand those Hungarian wire stocks.
Guess I’ll have to feel it up. Might just wait and get an sgl-21… which is undecidedly better, but this little blaster got me looking, and at the $350 price… I was more then interested. Who knows.
kid said he’d take $300. as far as i can tell, there is NO front sight or gas block cant and it does have the original bulgie chf chrome lined barrel. that does sound like a screamin’ deal. templar… if you don’t mind, what should i specifically look for on this weapon in order to determine quality. any help would be appreciated. if possible, make me a list to go down. i guess at $300, it’s not much gamble… but that is 1000 rounds of .223 (that i don’t EXACTLY need… then again, i don’t EXACTLY need this, either. :D)
