I posted a review on my site about my use of the Tavor daily
What it amounted to was this. It has 1 issue Im trying to find a decent work around, but for the most part it is every bit as good a rifle in the reliability arena as any AR based weapon Ive used in the last 30 years. Its better than most of the franken build AR as well. It runs any mag that is considered reliable i.e. Magpull, gi aluminum, steel, etc without a hitch or anything sticking. I have some Colt 20 rd mags I was issued in 1986 which are still working great and the Tavor likes those too. They are nice for prone or bench work
Now, its not an AR trigger or barrel, but the coyotes havent filed a union grievance yet either so it seems like the witnesses are dying as they get targeted.

Interesting to hear your opinion on it. I shot one last year, and while I thought it was a good, high quality carbine, I didn’t “click” with it enough to make me go buy one.
The problem you encountered is one that I hadn’t thought of, but it makes sense. A potential solution, ironically enough, would be to carry it “Israeli carry”, like some people do with their pistols. Mag in, nothing in the chamber. If you aren’t anticipating using it, the added time it takes to rack the round shouldn’t be too much of an issue, and would probably save the time of looking to see if you’re going to have to rack it anyways. You brought up that idea, and it makes sense to me to utilize it.
I have a conscience about writing. I wont do any kind of an opinion on gear, especially gear maybe saving someones life without spending some serious time with it. I carry a gun for a living, and this rides in my truck with me all the time now.
I like it, it slings well, its not a match grade AR but it holds its own in the area it was designed for. And its been absolutely filthy out here chasing cougars on a couple occasions and ran like a top.
Really cant ask for more, except maybe a victorias secret model with no vocal cords
PLA I read your review it was a good one.I also own a Tavor and it is now my go to rifle.I havent got a light yet.I removed the trigger spring and trigger is managable.The trigger seems to be the only I really dont like about the rifle.But I can adapt to it.I really dont like paying $300 extra for a trigger.Ive got a Trijicon acog on mine.Only problem I have there is the crosshairs seem to be alittle off(Not level)Its a keeper.
I’ve had a Tavor for over a year now. Removed the extra trigger return spring, attended a carbine class with it. I’ve since added a Gear Head forend with a light installed. I’ve also gone through a few sight options, right now it’s wearing a Vortex 1X Spitfire prism sight. I like the fact that it’s always available as a sight, on / off / dead battery. I have finally gotten to the point I only giggle a little at the “boobie reticle”.
The only malfunction that I’ve had was from bumping the charging handle when shooting through a port in a barricade during the class. I’ll be in the market for a folding charging handle when some vendor introduces one.
This is my “Things go bump in the night” rifle but it stays chamber empty with a loaded 20 round magazine inserted.
Its not your ACOG thats off, the same thing has happened to me and others, if you can live with it its an issue with the rails. Im pretty sure all of them have it as well. I had a vortex spitfire on mine and noticed the same. With red dots of course you never notice
I dont know the exact cause, but if I had to post a guess I would put up the torque on the bolts holding the rail to the barrel were slightly off. Perhaps giving a slight twist to the rail. I know out of the 9 Ive handled, 7 show it. The solution is easy. A red dot doesnt have a cross hair, and doesnt show it at all.
Cool website, PLA. I added it to my favorites. The Tavor fascinates me, from an exotic point of view. I loves me some AR’s, and like crisp triggers and AR ergos, but the Tavor does fascinate me. The price, on the other hand, does not.

About the rails and torque
I am just guessing about the issue. I put a red dot on mine and called it good. Its not a precision rifle so the very slight cant is not something I care much for. Im just not going to loose any sleep over it. I hit a coyote at just shy of 300 yards and the bullet went where I put the dot. It will NEVER win at an NRA service rifle match the way it is, but its fine for a truck rifle.
Someone like our AR mechanics could maybe spend some time researching it and tinkering, but like I stated, Im just guessing. Would make sense though with the very slight twist and the way the rails attach to the barrel.
