Bought a TangoDown battlegrip for an AR via MidwayUSA, only to find that when it got here, it wouldn’t fit on my AR. The holes didn’t line up and left a nasty gap. I figured I’d shoot TD an email asking what the problem could be. Jeff C at TangoDown was quick to reply, and asked a few questions about the situation first. After answering their questions, they asked me to ship them the A2 grip that came with my AR. They assured me i’d not be out any money and that they’d reimburse me for shipping.
I clumsily sent them the wrong grip. Instead of sending them my A2 grip, I sent them back their battle grip. I was notified by them via email, and sent out the correct A2 grip from my rifle the next day.
After inspecting my A2 grip and comparing it with a Colt A2 grip, and swapping parts to see how the fit on a mil spec receiver, they showed me that my A2 grip that came with my rifle was different compared to the colt A2, and showed how my A2 grip wouldn’t fit on their mil spec lower, with picture evidence to prove it. From this, they concluded that most likely my receiver is out of spec. They then told me they’d send me a check for $50 to cover the costs of the grip and shipping my grip to them.
I sent them a follow up email a few minutes later telling them that I spent less than $50 (probably about $30 total in parts and shipping), and that I’d check my receipts to get an exact figure. I wouldn’t include the shipping for the wrong grip I sent them, as that was my fault. They told me not to worry about the exact figure, and that they’d send the $50 check regardless, alongside my stock A2 grip.
Just today I got a package from UPS, only a day or two after they emailed me telling me they’d send my grip back. I opened the package, surprised to find that they’d sent me not only my stock A2 grip, but also the TD battlegrip that I accidentally sent them. They knowingly reimbursed me more than I spent total, AND also gave me back the part that they reimbursed me for, even though the fault wasn’t on them, but rather the manufacturer of my AR.
If that’s not over the top customer service, I don’t know what is. I don’t think anyone I have ever, nor will ever do business with will be able to top that level of customer service.
I don’t post much on this forum, and do more reading, but I figured I had to tell my story about my experience with these guys.
Also, the manufacturer of my AR’s name has been withheld, as they will be taking care of me and I’m assuming will most likely give me a new lower since the one I have is out of spec. I won’t mention their name as i’m still in the process of getting my rifle squared away with them for now, and will let them get their word in with me first. Just know that they’re not a low quality company, and are well known around here.
