I just got 3 TD ARC magazines and I can’t get them to seat with the bolt forward unless I slap the bottom. This is when loaded with 28, 29, or 30 rounds. I tried seating them repeatedly to “break them in” but to no avail, which I suppose says good things about the construction.
I don’t have this problem with GI/Magpul follower/Wolffe spring mags or with Magpul mags when loaded to 28 rounds.
Anyone see this issue? If this is common then I don’t think I would rotate them into my collection…
I used to slap but then the push-pull method has worked out very well for me and is more positive since you don’t let go of the magazine to seat it.
I have seen this issue in 3 different “Pre-Ban” Eagle/Armalite/Bushmaster lowers that have had no issues with many dozens of GI and Magpul mags. The TD mags lock just fine without ammo though, so maybe it is the stout spring.
Maybe it’s just this batch? I measured from the mag catch cutout to the top of the mag lip and my TD mags seem to be about a 1mm longer than my PMags. Maybe this plus the ammo makes it just that bit harder? Maybe I’ll try and sand the lips a tiny bit and see what happens…
