tactical pistol defined?

Tactical seems to be defined these days by anything wearing FDE and a rail.

However I do like the grilling attire. :stuck_out_tongue:

As the OP, I understand now

Tactical in the 80’s -90’s

Paint it Black, Charge way to much money,
Some young dumb dude(usually a rookie cop) will buy it.

Fast forward to now.

Some young dumb internet dude will pay way to much money for it.

Tactical == Marketing to the Masses

& Round & Round we go.

Tactical to me, means ‘‘for a specific purpose or situation’’.

For example:

Flashlight = All purpose illumination.

IR Light = For night where your soul purpose is to not be seen, specifically for use in dark environments with NV. (Tactical)

Not wanting my SOUL to be seen, is the SOLE purpose of my NVGs and IR lights.

If a gun writer suggests that it was designed for a “TIER 1” (another one) military unit (even if they didn’t select, test, or ask for it), and passes a 50 round qualifier/reliability test, then it passes as tactical. Also, any manufactured pistol that comes from the factory with a threaded barrel, a rail, and an alternate color, when the base model does not.

My definition: a pistol conceived, designed, and properly built such that one can bet their life on it.

I’m starting to hate that word.:bad:

Tier 1 is the new tactical this year. don’t commit a gun board fashion fopuax. Each year on may 1st the word tactical is replaced with tier 1 until the fall lines arrive.

And FDE is the new Black:D

Lol. I don’t know how I screwed that up.

Handguns are like swords, they aren’t very good at much besides killing. You can get pretty ones, I guess if you want.

Anyone have the courage to post a pic of a T1 on a 45 degree mount. The perfect solution for shooting canted gangster style. :jester:

Be careful with that LaRue Tactical mount you’ll scratch up your pretty Glock rail.

Look no further. A T1 might be more practical in comparison with this crap.

I blame Springfield Armory for that for naming their different sized pistols “Service” or “Tactical”, like that really means something.

and while this may be a chicken/egg thing, I suppose it’s kinda fitting that it got glommed onto by SA. I cringe when I’m in a shop and someone asks to look at a pistol and says, “no, I mean the one with the Tactical length barrel”…
