My wife now wants the pink one they make for her iPhone.
I’ve found one thing that slightly annoys me with the case. I use my iPhone with a Bose sound dock a lot, which requires removing the case so it’ll fit the dock. Problem is the case holds the phone so snug it’s a pain getting it off. (so I guess even that’s a selling point towards it cause come on… I think we all can agree…the tighter the better. Right. Right. lol)
The Magpul case I had on my iPhone 4 loosened up badly after a few weeks. I might have just gotten a bad one though I don’t know. The one time I actually dropped my phone it was fine but flew out of the case after it hit the ground.
For the price the best case for me has been the old school bumper. Now that I have tore that one up through normal usage I may get another Magpul one or maybe an elements case. The black ops looks kinda cool.
When I first got my iPhone 4 I bought a otterbox for it, after about 2 months use, I really started to get annoyed with it. Between the increased thickness of the phone and the freaking flaps everywhere, I just gave up on it.
Decided to finally buy the Magpul case in OD Green to match the other Magpul parts that I have on my gun, and I have to say that I love this case! The only downside of it was that I had to bore out the headphone jack a little so it would fit my plug in my truck for stereo. Other than that, this case is perfect. Much better than the $25 dollar cases you get at Best Buy and such, not to mention cheaper than those cases!
I have not gotten a screen protector for it yet, but after almost 2 weeks of using this case, I have yet to scratch the front. (knock on wood) But then again when it is my pocket, nothing else goes in that pocket. I have only dropped the phone once, but that was on carpet, so it had a nice cushion.
The Magpul iPhone 4 case is by far the best feeling case I’ve had, but the dang thing got loose and kept slipping off. It really needs a little more of a lip on the edges of the face to stay on the phone better. Within a couple months it got to where it would start to slip off nearly every time I handled the phone.
Right now the phone is back in an Otterbox but despite being super durable, it has its own issues (the belt clip broke, and it’s huge to slip in and out of a pocket - plus the rubber over-coat has gotten loose as well and doesn’t stay tight on the phone).
I’d pick one without a doubt if it had the raised edge around the screen. It may not be a big deal to some, but for me, I always lay my phone screen-down so that nothing gets dropped onto the screen or anything.
There does appear to be a raised edge, but it’s very very slight- slight enough that many reviewers have deemed it to not be enough to lay it face-down on tables and such.
My phone goes naked. The Magpul case kept causing the phone to go in mute mode.
I just take the chance with it, and try to be careful. Don’t put it in a pocket with keys or anything like that. If I wanted a protected phone Id get something like the new casio ones.
I did a video review of the magpul case a while back- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tVOsKMSUuTk
I actually went back to using an old Nokia though, smart phones are nice but I go through them too fast, and with an Otter box or equivalent they are just too large for my taste
Quick question. Is this the type of case that you just peel the corner out a bit and slip the phone in or is it two pieces that slides over the phone?
How flexible is it and is it rubbery or is it the same material the pmags are made out of?
The reason I ask is I plan on buying a bunch and film dipping them in cool patterns and selling them but the film dip can only stand so much flex so I don’t want to do it if they flex alot. I planned on buying one for testing but if someone could chime in that’d be alot easier.
They are pretty flexible. They aren’t made out of PMAG material, they are made out of the same material as the Magpul mag loops. If you youtube it, there are a handful of videos on there that show how flexible it is, and yes it is a one-piece case.
If you go to an apple store to buy a case you are going to spend at least $30. The Magpul case beats any $30 case hands down and i think the otter box is good but it’s on a whole different level.
The Rokform Rokbed case, for anyone interested. Poor quality picture- it’s matte black, but looks bluish because of the light coming in through the window onto it, in relation to the artificial indoor lighting.
The Element and Rokform cases look nice and sound durable but they both specifically state they are only compatible with AT&T iPhones and not anything else. I have Verizon.
