Just wanted share, and I couldn’t get in the general discussion forum, so I figured this was the next best/appropriate place.
I needed a new case for my iPhone 4, and saw where magpul was making them. It was $16 bucks shipped to my door which is a pack of smokes cheaper than anything walmart had to offer.
If anybody’s looking for a new case I highly recommend it. It’s super thin, feels pretty sturdy, and yeah, it’s kind cool that it matches my rifle.
I’ve got the verizon model, and you can see in this picture the vibrate/ring slider is kind of close to the edge of the hole, but it still clears it.
Yeah, that’s a very cool case. I was going to get one, and still might I suppose. It’s a hell of a lot better, to me, than the mass-produced, $40 junk at Best Buy etc. (like the one I have now).
Right now, I’m probably going to get the Rokform Rokbed in either matte black or urban camo. It’s pricey, but very protective and just looks sick.
picked one up for my 3Gs as soon as they became available…been holding up good for a $10 case. I’ve dropped it onto concrete plenty of times with no issues. Only complaint is an oily residue on the inside of the case/back of the phone after a time.
Otter box is definitely top of the food chain for protection. I just don’t like anything other than my LC9 hanging on my belt, and it’s way too thick/bulky to put in my pocket
One thing with the Magpul case- I’d definitely make sure to get a screen protector ASAP, as it doesn’t have much of a lip to protect the screen. I’ve read the material it’s made out of provides great grip in the hand!
You aren’t kidding about the pricey bit. Goodness…you could buy one magpul case in just about every color they make for the price of one of those Rokbeds.
And yeah, the mass produced $40 best buy special is what I’m replacing with the Magpul and so far I’m very impressed
Very nice cases. That black ops one is crazy expensive. lol nothing like spending $50 less on a case than I paid for the entire phone. looks pretty sick though
Been using the magpul on my i4 for about 6 months now. Been through many drops and it’s still like new. I use the magpul case and the zagg screen protector, very good set up. I used the otter box and got rid of it, it sucked. Tried the Ballistic case, much better that the otter box but the magpul keeps protection up and bulk down…
I’m somewhat ashamed to say I have a medium sized box at home full of various iPhone and iPad cases. Of all of them, the Magpul case is my favorite. I don’t think it’s necessarily the best looking, the most protective, the cheapest or the most durable, but it covers all of those things reasonably well.
The things I really like about it are:
Price point. Magpul is absolutely right when they say most iPhone cases are ridiculously overpriced for what you are getting. It’s like Corvette tax: makers know you can and will pay more, so they charge it.
Slim form factor. This doesn’t turn the phone into a behemoth, completely altering it’s designed shape. I won’t consider an Otterbox or one of those other giant protective cases because of that.
They get little things right. The material used allows the buttons to still be responsive. The hole for the mute switch is no bigger than it needs to be. There’s enough of a lip that I can set the phone screen down. It doesn’t interfere with my screen protector (Power Support anti glare FTW). It goes in and out of pockets easily. The PMag style ridges are well executed and grippy enough.
The only other case I liked this much was the slim case I had with a rotating kickstand in the back. It was like $45 though, and wasn’t very protective.
Subzero nailed it, this is a really great case at an excellent price. He’s already listed all of the reasons I like mine, and my piece of crap Otter Box now sits unused…
