T1 Point of impact shift?

The answer to this question doesn’t sway my opinion of the outstanding T1 micro in any way, but I am curious. FJB or any T1 users. I was at the rang the other day sighting in my T1 on a new SBR upper. After I was finished I OCCLUDED my front optic because it was bright outside and I would be able to see the dot better. I know I could have just turned up the brightness and achieved the same thing. However when I OCCLUDED the front of the optic I got a point of impact shift, about 6" at 15 yards. Just curious if this is normal.

That is absolutely normal. All optics do it. Magnified optics even more so than Aimpoints.

Lay your UNLOADED rifle down on a steady rest, aim it in a safe direction at something small, and look through your optic with both eyes open. Now put your strong hand in front of the optic. You can actually see the dot “shift”.

It’s user dependent from what I’ve seen. Everyone has a different amount of shift. I don’t even bother with occluded eye drills in classes anymore because I already know I get a shift.

IMHO it has to do with your eyes not sitting at the same height in your head. Just like ears, most people’s aren’t even.

Thanks fellas.

not uncommon esp. for those who are strongly cross eye dominate. That said I have shot 11"W x 19"H steel targets at 200 yards with ocluded eye. The amount of offset will vary per individual. However, I have noticed that the more people shoot/train with Ocluded Eye the less offset occurs, i.e. it is minimized.

Thanks again FJB. I figured it was probably on an individual bases.
