I only have experience with one mount so I can’t give you a first hand comparison between the different offerings. I am extremely happy with my ADM mount. I’m running lower 1/3 but on the ADM the heights are changed with different spacers so you can basically pick if you want lower 1/3 or absolute co-witness or heck you could get both for not too much additional cost (think they are about $19 for the additional different spacer), try both and then decide which you like better. The LaRue, Bobro one’s may be the same way but I don’t know so can’t comment. I think the DD mounts are dedicated at whatever height you pick.
Also there is a thread floating around here somewhere that lists the differences in weights between the ADM, DD, Larue, Bobro mounts but I can’t find it now.
The “Bobro” Aimpoint T1 mount is not out yet. They are booked beyond belief making their current product lineup . Their T1 mount will be modular and it will be able to be tailored for various heights .
I’ve got Larue mounts for my ML3 and my 3x magnifier and I love them.
So I went ahead and ordered the Larue tall mount for my new T-1 and just received it minutes ago.
I heart Larue. I ordered a couple other things, but I got another dillo bottle opener, the dillo dust steak rub, and another hat. I love Larue.
I also like the A.R.M.S. stuff, but prefer the larue because of the adjustable lever tension. The A.R.M.S. is nice, but I’ve had a couple where it’s REALLY hard to get it closed on the rail because the tension is so tight.
I also like that the Larue is one piece. Just an aluminum tower for the optic to sit on.
LaRue is a set height and for many that seems to be exactly what they want (lower1/3 co-witness) and takes up little rail space (for those that are concerned with that i.e. guys running magnifiers).
As stated the ADM is sold as one or the other (absolute co-witness or 1/3 co-witness) but seperate spacers are available to convert it over the other at a small price. It has a great enguagement area and some equate that to being more stable on the rail.
KAC also now has a really nice mount with a fairly high price point and it comes with both sets of spacers.
If you do not need the quick detach options, or are just counting onces on a SBR build, I would look strongly at the DD offering. It is currently only available in a lower 1/3 co-witness but will be available in a absolute co-witness shortly.
i like it. close to center co-witness. retains zero great. caps are fast and easy to use. also slight forward mounting helps with more room for a magnifier.
In most photos, I see the T1 mounted as far forward on the receiver rail as possible. I know it CAN be done, due to the unlimited eye relief, but why is it not centered or mounted closer to the eye? Wouldn’t the view through the tube improve?
As you move the optic further from your eye it reduces the angle of incidence between your eye and the optic. This means it is faster in line with your eye and on target.
Another reason is the further away you have the optic the less effect it has on your overall field of view.
