Why wouldn’t synthetic motor oil be the best available lube for the AR? I would think that all the r&d the company did for use in auto or Diesel engines far exceeds the analyses performed by boutique AR lube manufacturers. What are your thoughts?
A lot of folks believe it is and use it for such.
I don’t care for the smell.
I used to use mobil 1 which worked great but smelled like crap. Switched to Royal Purple synthetic and works just as good without the smell. A lot of time and money is invested into motor oil and I see no reason why it would not work as good or better than much of the gun oils on the market. Automatic trans oil works well too but smells like crap. Compared to gun oil a quart of synthetic is cheap when buying a few ounces of gun oil.
