A few days ago there was a thread on here where a gent posted a pic of an M4gery with a .22 conversion upper AND it used SW’s MP15-22 mags.
I followed the link to the sight mentioned in the thread and BMed… or so I thought.
I wanted to try the device out due to the fact that I can get the SW rimfire mags for dirt cheap via a distributor friend of mine. I wanted to try it out before the next Steel Challenge season.
Yes I used the search function and I still couldn’t find the bloody thing.
There are advantages to the S&W .22 magazine over others beyond being less expensive. They are designed from the beginning to lock open the bolt on the last round. Their function is excellent and largely responsible for the outstanding reputation for reliability of the 15-22. And, they are easy to load which is important if you do a lot of shooting.
I knew it started with a “B” but for the life of me I couldn’t remember the rest of the name.
Ya saved me
I built a pair of .22 uppers for my wife and myself and have had a load of fun with them. The down side was how stupidly, painfully long it took to reload. 15-22 mags are a lot quicker to reload
What are the advantages of a MP15-22 magazine over the CMMG and Black Dog ones? I just ordered a .22 upper from CMMG with 2 mags and some black dog ones. I am wondering if I should change things around. The only problem is that I am from CA and apparently the 10 round S&W magazines are hard to find right now.
the advantages are that they are easier to load by a long shot, and with that adapter the bhoa actually works. Also the price on the mags is a lot cheaper than the cmmg mags as well. Black Dog mags are around the same price as s&w if I am not mistaken.
The problems we’ve had with CMMG and BD mags is that they tend to “wobble” in the magwell. This in turns can, not always, cause misfeeds… especially when doing lateral transitions while on the move.
Apparently the Redi Mag product holds your mags stock still no matter your weapons orientation. I rather like that idea
I got the better-mag a month ago & couldn’t be happier with it!
Sold all my BDM mags as a result too. Already had a bunch of 15/22 mags as it is my favorite rimfire AR trainer.
Now to get my SBR AR 22 upper running right…
