Switching Optic from rifle to rifle, same zero asking too much?

Am I expecting too much to be able to do this?

I switch my red dot sight from one flat top to another and I’m a few clicks windage from AR to AR.

New rifle just purchased, I go to install rear BUIS and use the same Red Dot to “rough in my sights” I was assuming that the optic would again be close, and maybe a few clicks off. Instead I have to use almost all the windage to center my sights to my optic. I re install the optic on my other 2 ARs and it’s still centered with the irons on both other rifles.

The optic is only zero’d to one rifle. If you put it on another rifle, it has to be re-zero’d to that new rifle. It’s no different than putting an iron sight from one rifle to another.

Yes you are. I’d say if they are close then bonus but I wouldn’t expect it
