I’m slowly dropping weight off of my SBR. I went from a 7+ oz. Noveske KX3 down to a 4+ oz. Levang and now will be putting on a PWS FSC556. It should be a zero recoil/ muzzle hop rifle once it is on but I’m preparing for a major concussive blast. How do you guys rate the experience of running an FSC556 on a 10.5" barrel?
I use the SM556 which is the FSC556 only it’s the same size as the A2 FH and has the grooves for mounting the QDSS-NT4. I put it on my 11.5" upper before shooting it so I don’t know what it sounds like with the A2 on. I usually shoot at an indoor range and with the PWS brake, it sounds no different than my BCM 16" middy sounded with the A2 hider on it.
It seems like it may be quieter than its bigger brother, the full size FSC556. Given that, does it do much for recoil and muzzle hop?
Followup shots are much faster than any 16" AR I’ve owned with A2 or Phantom FH. Today I put some rounds downrange with only my electronic earpro and did notice it was considerably louder. Not annoying though. Actually the guy next to me with a 16" AR was louder. Looked like he had an A2 on it. I usually have SF sonic ears under the muffs.

IT IS LOUD. i don’t recommend it for indoor ranges. i had it on an 11.5 and that lasted two trips then back on the 16" it went. i and everyone around me shooting like the forward blast comps. keep the levang.
Yep, the levang was much better on the ears than the PWS. But the PWS made it so much quicker on follow up shots. What I ended up deciding to do was to switch from a 10.5" barreled SBR to a Sig 556 classic with the barrel cut back to 14.5" and the PWS permanently attached to bring it back to 16" overall barrel length.
It is almost as handy as the SBR (only 4 inches longer overall), has more rifled barrel for higher FPS and not quite as loud.
