Switch barrels or not?

I have two main rifles currently. One is a 6920 with a Geisselle SMR 13 inch that I use as my main general purpose rifle. It isnt necessarily heavy but it isnt a lightweight by any means. Its around 8.5 pounds unloaded. Second is my new Recce BCM with a 13 inch KMR. Without optics it is 6.8 pounds.

Im thinking about taking the SS410 barrel from the BCM and throwing it in the Colt and then replacing it with a ELW barrel. That way I would have a nice lightweight general purpose rifle and the heavier precision rifle that will have a bipod.

But Im kind of thinking of keeping the BCM as is to keep a lighter Recce type rifle and just putting in a lighter weight barrel in my Colt. I figure with the Viper PST 2.5-10x32 and ADM mount the Recce would weigh about the same as the Colt with a lighter barrel. What do you guys think?

this may not be what you want to hear but…I would set the colt up as the “go to”. I am fond of 18"+ barrels for precision rifles so I would put a heavier longer barrel on the BCM. that is just me.

hope I help at least a little.

I have a bcm recce with a leupold 3-9 in an ADM mount. With the Daniel defense lite II rail it’s not super light at all however the rifle does everything I need it to, the only thing I’m looking to change is use one of those super light weight aero precision mounts instead of the adm. I never move the scope between rifles anyway. If it were my rifles I would swap the rails and keep the same barrels.
