Bloomberg said earlier today that the people who’ll get helped most by the city’s new soda restrictions will be the poor because they “don’t have the ability to take care of themselves as well” as the wealthy.
People should be insulted and rioting over this.
I don’t normally advocate riots but the silence over this proposed ban was deeply unsettling. All the high-profile restaurant and club owners, pizza venues that couldn’t deliver a 2 liter bottle, regular citizens…yet we saw nothing.
Bad, bad and also just plain bad. The judge was the one and only savior.
I wasn’t referring to the ban itself more so the mayors insulting rhetoric towards low income populations. But yea their should have been more outrage over the ban. But I would think a lot of companies were silently content with it since it would mean higher sales. Nobody was going only buy one smaller bottle of pop with their orders.
They won’t because it is targeted at Fat People. They are the last group that can truly be bullied without impunity. People associate fat=stupid.
As an addition the more we trend to socialism/group-idenity, the more the “government” can regulate your life.
If I want to be a fat gay hispanic mall ninja it is none of your business. Get off my lawn and get me a soda. Make it a BIG SODA (and some smokes–look at what they did to smokers. Fat people are next–then it will be high cholesteral folks, then red meat eaters…)
