imo,
BIGGEST waste of $4.99 I can think of in the Universe.
well, opinions, and all that… :jester:
What piece of equipment are they pimping this month?
That would be the Red Jacket “Katana”…NO THANK YOU!
Is it me or has the quality of SWAT gone down hill the past 2 years? Used to be a great source of good, un-hyped, quality info…
They now seem preoccupied with ARFCOM-esque propaganda.
Yep. The only arms mag I buy is Tactical Weapons and that is only when I’m sent to the grocery store once in a blue moon. Even then, whatever they’re reporting is the greatest thing in the world mostly.
I don’t get the gun rag thing.
I guess they have NO idea what a K.I.S.S. rifle is, with all of that gear attached to it and all.
Ok I know we all generally hold gun rags in low esteem. However this is one of ours, someone who has done a lot for our community. So are you guys joking? We have at least one guy out there who gets it. Who knows maybe he can have a positive impact on other writers? So wnhy not support him?
Agreed, Rob is one of the good guys and from what I’ve seen over the years has been very honest and helpful. While I don’t agree with a lot, even most of their articles and reviews, SWAT mag nearly always has something interesting and informative. It’s the only mag I read regularly.
Well maybe because Rob is so quick to criticize others without regard if he believe they don’t measure of to his tactical standard of excellence and yet he is promoting a magazine that hardly meets his “internet standards.”
Seems like Rob is only being tolerated until the new chart is released.

You have a point. Let me be clear, I am not a fanboi of Rob. To me Rob does come across as having a personality some where around rough sandpaper at times. I’m willing to bet that if we met for a beer that one of us would chug our one and only beer and we would excuse ourselves. However I don’t think that should be taken into consideration when you are assessing technical competence. So yeah he is writing for a gun rag. Maybe he can work on making that gun rag better. But is lacking in the “Mr. Personality” department worthy enough of a reason to go at him?
WTF??? Reading comprehension, anyone?
I don’t see Rob_S promoting SWAT magazine, here.
All he said was " Covers taking Cumberland Tactics Carbine 1 with Randy Cain using BCM Dissipator carbine with iron sights."
Frankly, I find that possibly interesting and informative.
And, for the record, the Shootrite “Katana” is gheyer than all they gheyness in gheyville.
I’ve noticed this somewhat lately, however I tend to give him a pass of sorts. I’ve noticed that he, as well as myself and others, have been frustrated with TOS mentality that has cropped up within the past year or so. I’ve gone a long time without posting anything because of it, however I’ve noticed an upswing in “quality” posting lately. He has been very helpful for a long time and I am pleased when he responds to a thread that I have an intrest in. I’ve not researched his profile, nor hardly anyone’s, and I don’t look for his every post nor anyone else’s. I’m sure there may be other factors involved that I’m not aware of but I still consider him one of the good guys with solid advice and I hope this trend continues.
Thank you for posting this. I think that all of us struggle with the limitations of non-verbal communication where it is easy to mistake tone or loose civility behind a keyboard. Life events such as this do not help. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
They lost me at Leroy Thompson…
I actually know Rob.
I thought we got along fine. I used to be a member of his carbine club and even did some transfers for him.
Then I arrived at this forum and he jumped my shit because I didn’t meet his minimum tactical requirements. I wouldn’t have minded if his opinions were actually founded on something and not based upon many assumptions. I still don’t exactly know where it is all coming from.
It is a shame what happened to his fiance, I can’t imagine. Despite him, I still did what I could (not that it was asking very much) when he asked for help.
I’m going to find me a pencil barrel than put sf hellfighter on the end, that’ll show em :D.
Let’s all just go back to the sp1, it’s simple clean, no bs.
The next big thing - triangular rails :jester:
I’ve never understood why people like to dictate to others personal preference but oh well - I’ve been using a 6920 since 03 with a RAS and it’s plenty light and fits me fine and even had a cmore on it for some time (the old plastic bodied one), even with all the shit talking of how uncool it was.
It worked was functional and it was my preference
If some one prefers a 14 pound battle rifle, fine by me.
I’ve since switched to eotechs, I know people bitch about battery life etc etc, but you can turn them off you lazy fkers
You don’t need a nuclear powered aimpoint just to say it runs indefinitely. ![]()
Anyhow I still read’em they make a boring flight a little more interesting.
I’m one goofy mf’er.
It’s because of your crazy sexy alternative life style, you freak ![]()
