My dept is in the process of selecting new entry vests. We’ve been put in a time crunch on the selection and have one week to decide. We currently use the ProTech Tac 6 Plus and getting new one of those are a possibility. However, we would like to get better comfort and/or range of motion as long as the protection is similar. The options we are looking at are:
MSA/Paraclete Tango T2
Diamondback Predator 2
ProTech FAV or Tac 6 Plus
GH(GatorHawk) Delta Five
I spent a bit of time on the phone today and have the MSA and DB on the way to T&E and the ProTech rep coming by as well. We already have the GH on hand. (BTW, MSA and DB were great to deal with, ProTech gave me a number for a rep that was out of service and I had to find a rep on my own).
I know many of our questions may be sorted out once we have our hands on the samples but if any of you have used one of these I’m looking for your opinion. If there are any known issues with any of these please let me know.
Last question, we use ProTech level III poly plates and ProTech Delta LT helmets also. Do those have a 5 year expiration like soft armor panels? I know expiration doesn’t necessarily mean a loss of effectiveness, but if they need to be replace we need to plan for that too.
