okay, i recently picked up a lower, but due to my quirky state laws i have to remove the retractable m4 stock and replace it with a fixed (rifle) stock.
so i’m gonna do just that … i have a rifle length reciever extension, matching buffer, spring, and an A1 length vltor modstock.
i’m missing the butt stock screw. so i think i’ll order that.
questions:
-
is the A1 screw the same as an A2 stock screw?
-
am i missing something else here? i seem to recall a “spacer” part but it’s been a while.
thanks!

The A1 and A2 screws are different lengths but the same thread pitch. You might have trouble finding a A1 screw, if so buy an A2 stock screw and cut off 5/8" of it.
The spacer is only needed if you’re installing an A2 stock. The A1 goes right on the receiver extension as is.
I once put an A1 stock on one of my carbines, and cut an A2 screw down like gotm4 described. It worked fine. At the time, A1 screws were hard to come by, but nowadays they’re much easier to find. I know that PK Firearms carries them.
