I’m about to degrease some Bulgarian Waffle mags I’ve had stored for ten years now. I’m doing a rotation of some of my “go to” mags and got to wondering if there is any ill effects on primers as a result of being loaded into mags with a faint coat of cosmoline on the inside?
That would totally depend on the quality of the ammo and the sealant around the primer…
Most Combloc stuff was pretty good about that, although the newer Wolf polymer coated steel cased stuff, not so much.
Fair enough, I will make sure to completely degrease the mags before I under take the project as I am loading them with Golden Tiger (Vympel).
If you really want to be sure, do a final rinse of the mags with Simple Green 1:20 and warm water. Afterwards spray them with either silicone or one of the dry lubes. Cosmoline doesn’t really migrate anywhere unless it is pretty hot.
