Yeah, I know. I was wanting to hear responses regarding the previous gen Socom compared with other suppressors. The new version is supposed to be 1-2db quieter and I’m assuming that they achieved this without increasing blowback. The Sandman S when mounted was solid, no wiggle at all, and I wanted to hear from anyone that may have used the Sandman and a previous gen Socom and get a comparison on the mounting systems since the Surefire hasn’t changed for the RC2.

I have the Surefire SOCOM556-RC and I’ve also attended a Dead Air demo day and in my personal opinion the Surefire is a much more robust unit with a mounting system that locks in place the first time everytime and is rock solid after a simple twist of the locking mechanism.
I’m not sure why Surefire found a need to come out with a RC-2 because mine has had zero problems and a reduction in 2 decibels is barely discernible to the human ear.

The RC2 is made with more efficient automated processes, read-- faster and cheaper, while making the welds stronger. They took the opportunity of the redesign to improve the geometry of the endcap regarding first round flash, added a practical strike bezel, and apparently found a way to further reduce backpressure without losing sound suppression.

I haven’t seen anyone who would know mention it, so I assume that means no. Does it seem greater than other comparable cans?

on all of our testing the SOCOM cans do not have a FRP with the ammo we use (mil ammo mostly). It records the data pretty even of 1-2 dB across all the shots. (3 ten round samples). The new SOCOM2 series does have new technology and something really good is coming down the pipe line at the end of the month.

I’ve not noticed a FRP on my SOCOMS, however the testing videos I’ve seen such Silencer Shop’s it did have FRP (so that is what I based my statement on). Anyway we can have a hint as to what is coming at the end of the month?

I heard that the RC-2 will be shipping with a Warcomp. Is that true? Found the answer, nevermind.

The only hint I can give is since we have new faster manufacturing that no one else in the industry has and SF has invested in new technology it is going to really benefit the customer.

The Wardens are being built. Bravo company put in the first order and it was 1K units. We are doing everything we can to weld up and paint as many as we can each day plus not neglect the suppressor line that needs the same thing. The welders are earning some serious overtime right now and the painting robot…well it doesn’t need breaks outside of refilling the Cerekote.

OK, September has come and gone. What is the surprise in the pipeline?

I didn’t experience this, but the guys who looked me in the eye and told me this sell these cans for a living… any other opinions on RC vs RC2?

I’d refrain from listening to gun store commandos. I’m not sure how the RC2 could lock up any tighter than my RCs & Minis and I doubt Surefire increased blowback on the RC2, if anything I believe they’d look for ways to decrease blowback even further if they could.

The first batch of RC2’s just arrived on shelves about 3 weeks ago. There is no way that Form 4’s have cleared that fast. Thus, I call BS on anyone who is claiming to have much trigger time behind them. In addition, the mount for the RC and RC2 has not changed, so I’m not buying the tighter lock-up arguement either.

I was planning on picking up a 5.56 RC2 and a 300 SPS when I can find one, but now I’m wondering if should wait around for the big surprise.

I’m also curious about the reported back pressure increase in the RC2 compared to the RC. I’m 99% sure those guys are full of it but since the lower back pressure is the primary reason I’m interested in a Surefire can it does cause a little concern.

This is the message that Garin sent me last week:

We have released a huge price reduction on almost all the models. With our new manufacturing we are able to make a stronger, more accuracy suppressor that incorporates a new high tech welding method and it brought down the costs to manufacture. By doing this allowed us to lower the prices. The manual welding on the previous versions was labor intensive and expensive.
