SureFire now has these rail forends for shotguns:
In the ad copy they say, “These precision rails enable consistent ‘repeat zero’ of any accurately dimensioned devices attached to them, such as SureFire lasers or WeaponLights.” This clearly encourages hanging a laser on one. I have no doubt the device will repeat its position on the rail alright, but my concern would be does it matter? It seems the movement of a pump shotgun forend relative to the barrel is the real problem.
But thought I’d check and see if anyone has actually done this? Does a laser mounted on the forend work adequately well for say slugs out beyond 30-40 yards with any kind of reasonable precision? Just grabbing a forend and moving it around tells me it probably wouldn’t. Not many other rail mounts wiggle around that much…
