Surefire pressure switch wire melting?

I went to my local gunshop with my newly built rifle to sight it in, and one of their employees told me to replace the M300A pressure switch with its pushcap. He said the wire can melt?!

I seriously doubt this is the case, because if that were the case wouldn’t my hands burn? Just would like a affirmation from M4C…doubtful Surefire would include this part if they hadn’t accounted for the heat.

In question:

I would not listen to any joker at a local shop. The few who know what they are doing are rare as hens teeth compared to the legion who do not.

You should shoot it first.

Gun shops are for shopping, not tactical advice. I’ve never melted a cable and I shoot quite a bit. Hell, I’ve never melted a zip tie which is closer to the barrel than the cable is (goes through the inside of my KAC rail) and much thinner.

Ask him if he read that on AR15.com…

Sounds like typical gun shop BS, people trying to teach you something as if they know more than you. When it comes to ARs most LGS don’t know jack.
