Surefire G3?

I’m currently building up my new critter gun(20" ar-15) and I want to put a far reaching light on it. I was looking at the G3 since I can get them locally and I’ve had good luck with surefires. I just wanted to know how far the G3 shines while still being able to identify the target. Does anyone know? Also is there any other far shining flashlights I should consider?

With the 200 lumen high output lamp element I think it would probably work just fine for your purposes. “How far” is a hard question to answer…but what I can say is that 200 lumens (as calculated by SF) is BRIGHT and will have quite a bit of throw.

What size critters at what distance?

G3/9P will do well for you if not too small/too far.

Depending on other variables, an LED (particularly the Malkoff M60) might work well too, with longer run time.

Mostly raccoons and skunks. I just wanted something that would allow me to be able to reliably identify a raccoon or skunk out to at least 50-75 yards(I don’t want to mistake one of our cats for something else). I could just stick a Malkoff M60 into my 6P, but it seems like incandescent bulbs can shine farther, or am I underestimating the M60?

Either the P91 or the Malkoff will do well for your ap.

I have a G2 w/ Malkoff M60 on my LT Stealth for varmint management.

The primary difference to consider between incans and LEDs, more than distance and output, is the quality of light (not good/bad, but spectral). The illumi-gurus at CPF can explain it better, but absorption, refraction, reflection, of environment, target, etc all play differently.

The Malkoff woud be a better choice I think just because of the extended run time over the incandescent.
