I have a newer Surefire Fury Combat light that I want to mount to a carbine. I originally had it in a VTAC mount, but it’s not gripping it tight enough anymore. The center (thin) portion of the body is just a hair bigger that an E series light. I’m looking for a mount that will fit around the thin section, but open up enough to fit over the tube. I tried a IWC E series ring and it will fit around the tube, but the hole won’t line up on the mount. My next thought is to try a Vltor scout mount, as it looks like it will spread apart. Any thoughts?
So just shim the mount that has loosened up over time. A piece of bicycle innertube or a couple wraps of electrical tape should do the trick on the body of the light.
I use the Gear Sector 6P mount for the Fury lights. Works perfectly, no shims needed.
