Looking at buying a suppressor for my AR. Any thoughts out there on the subject. Would it be a good purchase.
Since suppressors are an NFA item, you’d likely get a better response in the NFA section of the forum…

When i started researching these, i really wanted to get the surefire as i had no idea the poi would be magnified so much. I was expecting no more than 1-2" regardless of brand…good ole learning curve.
I had a tight budget on my first sbr build and got a really good deal on the yhm ss phantom that i could not pass up. Couldn’t be happier for what i paid and the gun shoots bug holes & appears to be a robust can…it jumps too far off target when it comes off for my compfort zone, but cool leaving it dedicated. same oal as a standard 16" m4.
I plan to make the purchase through GT Dist. here in Texas.
Question I live in the county where I work for the Sheriff’s Office, but within a city that has a police department. The question is can my boss the Sheriff sign the ATF paperwork or does have to be the police chief of the city I live in.
I went with the AAC 7.62 SD for my first can. I use it on my 6.8 SPR’sh build and my “recce” style build. Great can and love it. My second can was the SWR Trident 9 which does not relate to your purchase. I am in the process right now though of buying a Gemtech HALO. I wanted the HALO b/c it can mount to any milspec flash hider (excluding the smith for older model HALOS) and b/c of it’s reputation as being a work horse can. The other reason I went with the HALO is b/c 5.56 is not quiet any way you cut it, so I didn’t want to spend more money to get a few more decibels. I’m not knocking Surefure or AAC but for a work horse can I couldn’t bring my self to abuse $1000+ cans. This will be primarly used on a 14.5 pinned 6921 and I’m thinking about just leaving it on almost all the time. I may even paint this one ;), ugly cans look cool to me.
