Suppressor Wear Variables/SBR Length

Gents,

I am trying to educate my self on SBR’s and supressors. I have talked with AAC about potentially using the M4-2000 on a 10.5" LMT MRP CQB (thats a lot of letters).

One of my questions is how much does the wear of the supressor accellerate with the 10.5" barrel? I understand that there are a lot of variables in this equation, but what are your general thoughts?

AAC suggested using their Blackout dual chamber muzzle break to take some of the beating away from the bore of the supressor.

Any issues with the 10.5" LMT’s on the MRP platform? An H buffer will be used.

Like I said, all of these ideas are still on the drawing board, and there are no commitments as of yet.

Thanks for the insight.

If you are going with the M4 2000 the Break or Breakout would be the way to go. The short barrels do increase the wear. Mike Mers did say that you will most likely shoot out your barrel before you need a new suppressor. Here is a pic of my Breakout with right at 200 rounds through it on my 10.5" AR. I am at around 700 rounds now and it is a bit worse. Most rounds were Fed XM 193.

my current setup is a 10.5" lmt upper with the newest revision of the m4-2000, however its not the mrp platform. i hope this helps anyway. i have put around 3k rds through the suppressor and the only signs of wear i have gotten thus far is a bit of the outside finish is flaking and rubbing off when the suppressor is really hot. everything inside the suppressor looks great except for the built up carbon. if you are like me, then u wont really care about the finish flaking. the way i see it, with as hot as these get under heavy fire, the finish is bound to wear out. it wont keep me from buying 10 more if i had the money. the m4-2000 is a great can. functionality is unchanged. im running a h2 buffer. in the future i plan on building a 20" barreled upper and i will have more info on comparing the rate of wear. until then, i would suggest the m4-2000 to anyone who is in the market for a suppressor. after i finally got the rifle setup the way i wanted i have had zero malfunctions. if the setup in your original post is what you plan on building then i would guess that you’re going to be extremely happy. no need for hearing protection when shooting it suppressed either. probably more info than you needed but it really is a great can. hope this helps.
